From New Jersey to New York in less than an hour: Seastreak Ferry

Driving to New York City from Monmouth County is a viable option. Taking the bus is also convenient, but these two modes of transportation can become mundane. An alternative and scenic option for you would be to take the Seastreak Ferry, which you can board from Atlantic Highlands or Highlands. Here are some of the things you need to know to switch up your commute to New York City.

  1. Seastreak has daily trips to New York City.

Highly convenient for the professional who works in New York City, Seastreak has daily trips that will take you to two points in New York City: Wall St. and E. 35th. You can either take the ferry from Highlands or Atlantic Highlands. Highlands has the earliest trip, with the ferry departing the terminal at 6 in the morning. Meanwhile, the earliest trip at the Atlantic Highlands terminal leaves at 7 am.

On weekdays, Seastreak also provides shuttle services between Wall Street, the World Financial Center, and the Citi Building.

  2. It’s a convenient option.

For a daily one-way or round trip, you can purchase your ticket at the terminal. Children under 5 years old ride free with a paying adult. You can also buy 10 trip, 20 trip, or 40 trip books at a discounted rate. For the 40 trip bookings, students get a special discount. If you have a bike, you can take it with you aboard the ferry for a small fee.

If you have a bike, you can take it with you aboard the ferry for $5.

  3. Seastreak offers an array of onboard amenities.

Seastreak Ferry’s onboard amenities include a full cash-bar, a satellite T.V. to entertain you throughout the 40-minute ride to New York City, and plenty of comfortable seating. These are luxuries you won’t get to enjoy in a car or bus ride.

Seastreak allows passengers to carry dogs and cats on board – just make sure you’ll keep them leashed on the outdoor decks. If your dog is deemed small enough by the service crew, you’ll be allowed to take it inside on a carrier. Service dogs are also permitted onboard.

  4. You don’t need to worry about getting seasick.

Seastreak’s fleet are well protected with a computer-aided ride control system that helps counteract every wave motion encountered throughout the ride. In fact, Seastreak has the lowest incidences of motion sickness in the whole North East. It is advised, however, to not board the vessel if you’re susceptible to motion sickness especially during inclement weather.
